Why Abu Dhabi Offers Traffic Fine Discounts Scheme
The Abu Dhabi Police offers a traffic fine discount scheme under specific conditions. This scheme motivates motorists to pay their fines on time and encourages safer driving practices. By offering a reduced penalty for early payments, the UAE authorities hope to decrease traffic violations and improve road safety.
The specific condition for this discount is that if you have a traffic fine and pay within 60 days of issuance, you will receive a 35% discount. After 60 days, the 25% discount will be available for one year.
Note: False rumours are circulating on social media and websites; there is no 50% discount on traffic fines in Abu Dhabi, and Abu Dhabi Police confirms that.
How Much Discount Can You Get in 2024?
The Abu Dhabi government offers two main types of traffic fine discounts based on how quickly you pay the fine:
- Fines Paid Within 60 Days: If you pay your traffic fine within 60 days, you will receive a 35% discount. This is the largest discount available, so if you want to settle your fine within this period, you will save a significant amount of money.
- Fines Paid Within One Year: If you miss your fine in the 60 days, you can pay your fine within one year, and you can still benefit from a 25% discount. However, this fine is less than 35% discount, but still you can save your money as compared to paying the full fine.
How to Pay Your Abu Dhabi Traffic Fine and Get the Discount
Method 1: Pay the Fine through the Bank
You can get benefits by getting discounts on your traffic fines through different payment options. The payment methods include zero-interest instalment plans for up to 12 months through participating banks. Below are the details of how you can get discounts through available payment channels:
- Here are the banks from which you can get discounts: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), Mashreq Al Islami, and Emirates Islamic Bank.
- To avail of this offer, you must have credit cards issued by one of these banks.
- Then contact the bank directly and ask them to arrange instalment payments for your fines.
Method 2: Paying Through the Abu Dhabi Police Website
- Visit the Abu Dhabi Police official website and log in to your account using your UAE Pass.
- Go to “Traffic Fines Payment” and select the fine that you want to settle.
- The system will automatically apply the discount based on the fine’s age and eligibility.
- You can pay a fine by using a credit card or other accepted payment methods.
Method 3: Paying via the TAMM App
- Download the TAMM app when you log in to your mobile device and navigate to Traffic Fines Payment.
- Choose the fine you want to pay, and the discounted amount will be applied if you are within the eligible period.
- Pay using a credit card, and the app will send you a confirmation SMS on your number once the payment is successful.
Method 4: Paying at Traffic Service Centers
If you prefer to pay fines physically, then you can visit any nearest Abu Dhabi Police Traffic Service Center. Below is the method how you can do it:

Abu Dhabi Large Traffic Fine Installment Plans
In some cases, traffic fines can be quite large, especially for serious violations. The Abu Dhabi Traffic Fine Installment Plan allows drivers and citizens to pay fines of 500 AED or large amounts of fines issued by the Ministry of Interior through interest-free instalment plans.
The instalment plan service is only available for credit card holders from the above-mentioned banks. In 2024 the ITC will expand to more banks.
How to pay fines in instalments
To Pay the fines, follow the below steps:
- Pay 500 AED or above amount to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to utilise your FAB credit card.
- From your mobile, send an SMS by typing “EPP” to 2121 to book your instalment plan.
- In the instalment plan, the 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months periods are available.
- To use this service, the minimum fine value should be Dh3,000 to qualify for instalment payments.
